Bargarh: The Dhanu Yatra Gate at Thana Chowk in the district headquarters town of Bargarh collapsed during a Kalbaisakhi storm on Monday afternoon, injuring two persons standing nearby.
According to reports, the arch structure suddenly gave way amid strong winds and heavy rain that lashed the town during the afternoon. The collapse triggered panic among local residents and passersby in the busy area.
The injured persons were rescued immediately after the incident and have been rushed to the district headquarters hospital. Their condition was not immediately known.
Police personnel and fire brigade teams rushed to the spot soon after receiving information and launched rescue and clearance operations. Authorities are also assessing the extent of damage caused by the collapse.
The Kalbaisakhi storm affected several parts of the district with gusty winds and intense rainfall disrupting normal life.
