Bhubaneswar: A newborn baby boy went missing at Rajsunakhala Community Health Centre in Nayagarh district, on Saturday.
According to sources, Sudhismita Parida, a resident of Bolgarh Godabhanga, was admitted to the hospital yesterday after experiencing labour pains and gave birth to a baby boy this morning. However, when her family members arrived, the infant was nowhere to be found.
Meanwhile, the family alleged that the baby was stolen from the hospital.
Holding the hospital authorities responsible for the incident, Sudhismita’s husband Bijay said, “We were not allowed to see the baby after birth. When we asked the hospital staff, they said the baby was taken for treatment, but we couldn’t find him anywhere. “
The family filed a complaint at the local police station demanding action against hospital authorities.
Based on the complaint filed by Bijay, police have initiated an investigation into the matter and are investigating the incident.
“We are reviewing CCTV footage and questioning hospital staff to find out what happened to the baby,” said a police official.
This is not the first instance of a newborn baby going missing in Odisha. Recently, a similar incident was reported in Sambalpur district.
