Bhubaneswar: The School and Mass Education Department on Monday conducted the third round of the online centralised lottery for admissions under the Right to Education (RTE) Act, allotting seats to 2,446 children belonging to the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Disadvantaged Group (DG) in private schools across the state.
The lottery was conducted under Rule 12(1)(c) of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE/RCFCE) Act, 2009, in the chamber of the Director of Elementary Education at 4 pm.
According to official data, online registration for the third round through the RTE Paradarshi portal was held from May 22 to July 1, during which 3,937 applications were received. Of these, 3,139 applications were verified by Block Education Officers (BEOs) and included in the computerised centralised lottery.
A total of 2,446 eligible applicants were allotted seats through the online draw, paving the way for their admission to private schools under the RTE quota.
The admission process for the selected students will commence on July 7 and continue until July 15. Parents and guardians have been advised to complete the admission formalities within the stipulated period to secure their allotted seats.
The department has also asked applicants to contact the RTE helpline (18003456722) in case of any difficulty or clarification regarding the admission process.
Admissions under Rule 12(1)(c) of the RTE Act reserve seats for children from Economically Weaker Sections and Disadvantaged Groups in private unaided schools, with the state government reimbursing the schools as per prescribed norms. The online centralised lottery system is aimed at ensuring transparency and fairness in the admission process.
